The Project
8. System / Assembly
Already in the summer of 2008, a model façade was built. This enabled the system to be tested early. This approach left room for improvement to final assembly.

model façade
Each element was fixed seperately to a steel post which is connected to the load-bearing steel frame of the building. The vertical loads are transferred by the inner concrete facing to two consoles. For the transfer of horizontal loads the panels are fixed at 4 points to the steel post.

two mounted façade elements
The applied fixing system allows for the mounting and removal of single elements without affecting neighbour elements. To solve this issue, the horizontal supports consist of trapezoid-shaped stainless steel mounting plates and a V-shaped shutter plate which is mounted to the post and is relocatable in vertical direction due to its´ slotted hole.

Mounting plate
At the moment of assembly, the façade panels were placed on the vertical support, the shutter plates were lowered and fixed with screws so that the shutters press the mounting plates against the supporting steel profile.
After installing a row of elements, the outer sealing layer was mounted.

The required assembly, vertical spaces between the elements were provided with additional insulation material.
